May 3, 2010

Chicago Cubs’ $19 Million Dollar Man, outfielder Alfonso Soriano, sizzled 2HRs and 4RBIs to lead the slaughter of the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-5.

Soriano, who has been repeatedly questioned about his value to performance this year, made a clear statement that he still has some explosive fire in his belly.

    Hey, Nikco,
    How ya doin?
In my opinion every one needs to look at the real reason that Greinke gave up the home run in his one to zero loss the other night I do not like to always put the blame on any certain individual although the reason for things happening do reflect sometimes on one particular person or one particular play but on the other hand during a given game there is always circumstances that that arise which can effect the game in a positive or negative manner such as no runs which effected his chances of winning after pitching a great game, he certainly is one heck of a pitcher, he is the victim of circumstances of himself and his teams lack of hitting the ball and producing runs, he is also a victim of his own lack of smart pitching at times such as throwing three breaking pitches in succession in the same general area more or less spot to the same batter, I would remind him that hitting in any league or level is about timing and pitching is also about timing and destroying a batters timing, which cannot be successfully accomplished by throwing in succession the same types of pitches in the same area unless they are out of the strike zone and one can get strikes or outs on them, In my opinion his loss there was his own fault.
    What do you think?

    Hey, Nikco,
You will probably get tired of my comments but I get irritated at those players who do not scrutinize their videos and can plainly see why they get jacked out of the park, It happened again last night, Royals pitcher throws the left hander three fast balls for strikes, one above the strike zone, one a little lower, then one right in the batters wheel house for a home run, he stair stepped the batter in the wrong direction and with poor pitch selection, or those who can not plainly see why they were thrown out at third or at first base as was the situation with the Cards. in two different games this past week in particular, Brendon would not have lost those three very important steps he lost which in my opinion would have given him at least two steps ahead of the ball at the base,,SAFE”"SAFE,” after he obviously when approaching 2nd. base, had already made up his mind to go to third and after rounding 2nd. he then looked over his right shoulder twice which slowed him down and cost him some very valuable hell bent for election running momentum to the base, and then sliding two steps too late which caused his momentum to carry him past the base, although there was some controversy as to whether he was tagged out or not, had Brendon been able to slide under better control feet first he could have put his foot right in the glove, and that controversial ,”DUMB,”DUMB,” head first slide into first base to beat the throw was ill thought, Some players have absolutely no common sense at times and go against all logic, As you well know It is and has been a proven fact over and over and time after time that the fastest way to beat a throw to first base if one is going to beat a throw there is to run straight through the base with feet close and low to the ground and the base , absolutely no long air borne front foot reaching to the base. There is a time and a place for head first sliding which is certainly not at first base or at home plate into a catcher.I continually change with the baseball times, but I am still from the old school also, Baseball is a thinking players game, I sit back and wonder when and where does the individual thinking come in ? Ryan Howard in my opinion is thick between his ears, he says he doesn’t care about the field shift confronting him he is just going to hit the ball there and see what happens, he does from time to time hit the ball to left field and with enormous power too, but if one simply does not at least hit one’s weight plus 4o points and get some walks one simply is not carrying one’s weight, home runs or not, I will take those players with a decent on base percentage, walks, batting average and a presentable number of home runs, by a player not being on base a presentable number of times said player is costing his team possible runs, wins and batters behind him RBI numbers, I will take those with decent overall stats. over those without, A broad statement for those of today’s baseball mind set to hear, Let Ryan’s home run out put drop to say 25 to 30 and see how long he would last in the majors, I think, not very long. What irritates me is his complacent attitude If his home run out put would bottom out maybe he would use his good intelligences which I figure he has and learn to be the great all around ball player that he can be, It amazes me at this point of his game as to how he can be considered to be on the same level as Albert is, “ABSOLUTELY ” “NO WAY” Albert is in a class all of his own as “TED WILLIAMS” was.
    Thanks for your return comments.
